AC Repair in Austin, San Antonio & Central Texas

Air conditioning repair from HVAC Done Right. We diagnose weak cooling, short cycling, frozen coils, and systems that will not start across Austin, San Antonio, and nearby communities.

Open 24/7, every day

When a Central Texas summer day pushes past 100 degrees, an air conditioner that is not keeping up stops being an inconvenience and starts being a problem for your whole household. HVAC Done Right repairs residential cooling equipment of all common types: split systems, packaged units, and heat pumps running in cooling mode.

Our technicians work through a full diagnosis before recommending a repair, so you understand what failed, what it will take to correct it, and whether the repair makes sense for the age and condition of the system.

Symptoms we get called about most

Most AC repair calls start with one of a handful of symptoms. Describing yours accurately when you call helps us arrive prepared.

  • The system runs constantly but the air coming from the vents is barely cool.
  • The outdoor unit hums or clicks but the fan never spins up.
  • The indoor unit turns on and off every few minutes instead of running a full cycle.
  • Ice has formed on the indoor coil or on the refrigerant line at the outdoor unit.
  • Water is pooling near the air handler or dripping through a ceiling below an attic unit.
  • The breaker for the air conditioner trips shortly after the system starts.
  • A grinding, squealing, or rattling noise started recently.

What a repair visit looks like

A technician confirms the complaint with you, then checks the thermostat and control signal, electrical connections and capacitors, the blower and evaporator coil, the condenser coil and fan, refrigerant pressures, and the condensate drain path.

Once the cause is identified, you get a plain explanation of the failure and the repair options before any work begins. If a part needs to be ordered, we tell you that up front rather than leaving the job open-ended.

Repairs we handle

  • Capacitor, contactor, relay, and control board failures
  • Condenser and blower motor replacement
  • Refrigerant leak diagnosis and repair, with correct charge verification
  • Frozen or dirty evaporator coil correction, including airflow causes
  • Clogged condensate drains, failed pumps, and float switch faults
  • Thermostat wiring and replacement
  • Compressor diagnosis, including honest guidance when replacement is the better spend

Before you call

A few safe checks can save you a visit. Confirm the thermostat is set to cool and the fan is set to auto. Replace a visibly dirty air filter. Check whether the breaker for the air conditioner is tripped, and reset it once. Make sure nothing is blocking the outdoor unit.

Do not open sealed refrigerant lines, add refrigerant yourself, or remove electrical panels. Those steps are unsafe and can damage the system further.

Frequently asked questions

My AC is running but not cooling. What is happening?
A system that runs without cooling usually points to airflow restriction, low refrigerant charge from a leak, a failed outdoor fan or compressor, or a frozen coil. A technician measures temperature split and refrigerant pressures to tell those apart rather than guessing.
What affects the cost of an AC repair?
The part that failed, whether it is stocked or ordered, how accessible the equipment is, and whether refrigerant handling is involved. We give you the price for your specific repair after diagnosis instead of quoting a number sight unseen.
Can you repair any brand?
We service the residential brands common in Central Texas homes. If a system is under manufacturer warranty, tell us so we can factor that into the recommendation.
