Heating Repair in Austin, San Antonio & Central Texas

Heating repair from HVAC Done Right for furnaces, heat pumps, and electric air handlers. We diagnose no-heat calls, short cycling, and cold air across Central Texas.

Open 24/7, every day

Central Texas heating systems sit idle most of the year and then get asked to work hard during a cold snap. That is exactly when problems surface, often on the first genuinely cold night of the season.

HVAC Done Right repairs gas furnaces, electric heat, and heat pumps. If you smell gas, leave the house first and call your gas utility from outside. For everything else, we can diagnose and repair the fault.

Common heating complaints

  • The system blows air but it is not warm
  • The furnace lights and then shuts down after a minute or two
  • The heat runs constantly and never reaches the thermostat setting
  • A burning or dusty smell that does not clear after the first cycle
  • The blower runs but the burners never ignite
  • A heat pump that runs but leaves the house cool in mild weather

What we check

On a gas furnace: thermostat call, igniter and flame sensor, gas valve and pressure, pressure switches, inducer, limit switches, heat exchanger condition, and blower operation. On electric heat: sequencers, elements, and limits. On a heat pump: reversing valve, defrost control, charge, and auxiliary heat staging.

Safety comes first on heating work. If a technician finds a cracked heat exchanger or another unsafe condition, we will tell you plainly and explain your options rather than returning the system to service.

Safe checks before you call

Confirm the thermostat is set to heat and above room temperature, replace a dirty filter, verify the furnace switch and breaker are on, and make sure supply vents are open. Do not attempt to light burners manually, bypass a safety switch, or work inside the gas train.

Frequently asked questions

What should I check before calling about a heating problem?
Thermostat mode and setpoint, air filter condition, the furnace power switch, and the breaker. If those are all correct and the system still will not heat, it needs a technician.
Do you service heat pumps as well as furnaces?
Yes. We work on gas furnaces, electric air handlers, and heat pumps, including their defrost and auxiliary heat controls.
Why does my heat smell like burning when it first turns on?
Dust burning off the heat exchanger after months of no use is common and usually clears within a cycle or two. A persistent or electrical smell is not normal, so shut the system off and call.
