What counts as an emergency
Use your judgement, but these situations generally cannot wait:
- No cooling during extreme heat, especially with infants, older adults, or anyone with a health condition in the home
- No heat during a freeze
- Water actively leaking from an air handler into ceilings or walls
- A breaker that trips every time the system starts
- Burning smells, smoke, or loud grinding from the equipment
Do these things first
If you smell gas, leave the building and call your gas utility from outside before calling us. If you see or smell smoke, shut the system off at the breaker.
For a water leak, turn the system off at the thermostat to stop condensate production. For a tripped breaker, reset it once; if it trips again, leave it off and call.
Staying comfortable until we arrive
In heat: close blinds on sun-facing windows, run ceiling fans, drink water, and move to the coolest part of the house. In cold: close off unused rooms, add layers, and keep faucets dripping if a hard freeze is expected to protect plumbing.
Never use a gas oven, grill, or generator indoors for heat. Those produce carbon monoxide.
